Here I sit, Day 42, and I miss my people. March 26, 2020 marked a big change for me in my life. That day I left my secure, full-time job to become self employed. It was a plan I had gone back and forth on for a while but only solidified my plan mid-February. The goal was to promote my new business of In-Service training for School Transportation Professionals in my state and region and then COVID-19 happened and threw everything into a tailspin.
Not only would my feeling of knowing that my new business would grow with ease become a feeling of “this may take a while,” I also became confined to my home-office and was unable to interact with most people. It was an insane adjustment from getting up at 4:15am each work-day, driving to work, saying good morning to nearly 100 staff members each day, endless phone calls and questions, to a quiet home office, by myself.
I know so many of you can relate. How quickly our daily routines and interactions changed. Especially those who work in education. We all went from our days being surrounded by co-workers and students, to our laptops, kitchen tables and Zoom meetings. All the things we took for granted each day, and many times grumbled about, we now desire, hope and wish for.
So here I sit trying out a new venture, Blogging. Don’t know where it will take me. I have never done it before. Maybe it’ll make me some money some day, who knows? Simply here will be my thoughts. My main focus here will be the School Transportation industry. You’ll read about the latest news, trends, opinions, technology and of course, buses! I’m going to share my expertise in a new way and see where it leads me. It may be a dead-end road, or it may be the start of something great. Who knows?
I hope many of you will subscribe and share my new Blog and follow along on this new journey. I hope to share stories and information that interest many in the School Transportation industry from local to regional to national happenings and get people talking and learning and thinking about school transportation. We all have the opportunity for growth, at any time at any age, it’s whether you choose to grow or not.
Like I said, join me and follow along to see where this new blog takes us. You won’t know until you try (and what else are you doing right now?)
